Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba has urged women to speak for their rights on serious issues affecting their lives.

Speaking on Joy News on the day the world celebrates International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 every year, Madam Otiko Djaba advised Ghanaian women to learn to say no to things that endanger their lives.

 

She said the status of women is equal to that of men hence women should not compromise on their rights.

“The right to speak is given to women by the society and her voice should be given equal importance and so as we are celebrating women today, I will urge them to learn how to say no things to will endanger their lives,” she said.

 

Madam Otiko Djaba also stated that one of her major tasks at her former job was the eradication of destitution, which ought to be the priority of every developing country.
