“Illiterate actors and musicians are killing our entertainment industry” -fdgg President

Mr. Richard Yaw Boateng, National President for Films Directors Guild of Ghana (FDGG) has set the record straight  that the unwillingness on the part of most movie and music artists to exhibit a reasonable level of professionalism in the execution of their talent is the cause of the declining standard of Ghana’s entertainment industry.
The nation’s entertainment industry (audio and audio visual) per his assessment is highly disorganized and heading towards a ditch because most players lack professional training and are not ready to learn the craft for a standard delivery.
Mr. Yaw Boateng made a sad disclosure that majority of Ghanaian artists though have the talent are unable to meet the standard of professionalism because of their low standard of education.
“Most of them exhibit their talents as and when they feel  by way of trial and error method and this is causing great doom to the industry” he noted.
Speaking at a mega forum event in Kumasi on the development of music and film industries in Ghana, he averred that it will be of much prudence if musicians and music actors approach the industry as a professional work and not just the utilization of ones talent.
“There are scores of  musicians and movie actors in the country who haven’t gone far just because they have failed to add professionalism to their talents. There is no element of education in their career. Most musicians and movie actors are rising and falling because they lack education to handle their talents in a professional way.” he said.
Mr. Yaw Boateng in his statement lamented over why until now government has not been able to set up a music institution where musicians will be given a formal training.
