‘If Mills had a ghost, Mahama would be in jail by now’ – NAPO claps back at NDC flagbearer

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has responded to a recent remark by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

Mahama had previously stated that Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, would have been slapped by the ghost of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, over a comment he made about him.

“If Nkrumah had a ghost, he would have slapped NAPO,” Mahama said during a rally.

However, speaking during a campaign event in Adugyama, located in the Ahafo Ano South East constituency of the Ashanti Region, Dr. Prempeh countered Mahama’s comment, asserting that if the late former president, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, had a ghost, Mahama would have been in jail.

“If Mills had a ghost, John Mahama would be in jail by now.”

His remark was met with enthusiastic applause from the gathered audience.

Dr. Prempeh is currently on a campaign tour across the Ashanti Region, promoting the NPP’s message of “Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future.”

During his interactions, he has been highlighting what he describes as the poor performance of the John Mahama administration.

“We have a President, John Mahama, under whose watch Ghanaians slept in darkness for four years, but he thinks Ghanaians have forgotten about this record,” Dr. Prempeh stated.

He also emphasized that the best candidate to safeguard the progress made in policies like Free Senior High School is the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr. Prempeh’s campaign tour is set to cover all 47 constituencies of the Ashanti Region, as the NPP aims to energize its stronghold and ensure a massive turnout on election day.
