Watch the moment US ICE officials arrested Ghanaian student who pleaded guilty to child porn for deportation

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a 32-year-old Ghanaian student, Kwadwo Boaitey Frimpong, in connection with child pornography charges, as shown in footage released by the Trump administration.

The arrest, carried out by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Baltimore on April 29, 2025, marks a significant action in the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

Frimpong, who entered the US in 2019 on an F-1 student visa to pursue academic studies, pleaded guilty to seven counts of possession of child pornography.

The charges stemmed from a Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) probe initiated in April 2024, following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspected explicit material on Frimpong’s Google account.

A search of his Maryland apartment uncovered a laptop containing over 2,000 images and 100 videos of child sexual abuse material, including content involving infants and toddlers.

On March 13, 2025, Frimpong was sentenced to 24 months in prison, with 12 months credited for time served, and ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to victims. Following his conviction, ICE took him into custody on April 29, 2025, pending deportation proceedings.

“Frimpong will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of removal proceedings,” a Homeland Security statement posted on X confirmed.

The released footage shows ICE agents apprehending Frimpong.

“I’ve got a warrant for your arrest,” one of the officers is heard informing Frimpong before putting him in handcuffs.
