I was once ‘akpeteshie’ seller – Patapaa

Hiplife artiste Patapaa has disclosed that he once sold Akpeteshi, a locally brewed gin, and, therefore, his success in the music industry is divine.

He said he can never be brought down by naysayers who criticised him and his hit song ‘One Corner’ because of its risqué dance moves which caused the song to go viral.

Patapaa said he revived Ghana music at a point when the industry was dormant.

“Pastors who ate and got satisfied lied, they said a lot of things, they said what they liked, but it is God who brought me, so, I’m still moving forward. Yes, most of them said a lot about me after I released One Corner; they said I’m an occult, I’m from the sea, they talked a lot, they just wanted to spoil my name but I was trending on social media,” he said on Ayekoo Ayekoo on Accra100.5FM on Tuesday, 16 October, 2018.

“They also wanted to spoil my brand, but if you have the blessings of God, no one can destroy you. Where I’ve reached, it is not easy for anyone to pull me down… I’m still in form in the music industry and I’m even moving forward,” he added.

The Swedru-based musician noted that his detractors, some of whom are pastors, said bad things about him, but “they should also know that I sold akpeteshie and God brought me into the music industry, so, God has blessed me. From day one and day two, the pastor at my church told me I will do big things and people will not understand. I didn’t even know One Corner will take over social media, so, any artiste who comes out through God will last for long when God blesses you…”

Patapaa cautioned that: “People should remember what the person was doing from day one before they conclude”. “Yes, I heard a lot of people saying I’m not talented, but I’m talented more than them”.
