I walked around Lagos hungry despite winning Nigerian Idol – K-Peace

Winning a prestigious talent show is often seen as a golden ticket to success, but for Nigerian singer Kunle Ogunrombi, popularly known as K-Peace, his victory at Nigerian Idol Season 5 in 2015 turned into a struggle for survival.

Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast with Nedu Wazobia, the singer accused the organizers of failing to deliver the promised prizes, leaving him stranded despite being declared the winner of the Etisalat-sponsored show.

“I came outside of the Nigerian Idol platform with zero naira in my account. As Nigerian Idol winner, I go waka all through Lagos, go for interviews without food for belle despite winning N7.5 million,” he revealed.

K-Peace said the organizers initially announced that he had won N7.5 million, a brand-new car, and a two-week trip to Dubai, but none of it materialized when he inquired.

“They announced that I had won N7.5 million. When I asked about the prize, they said they are still branding the car.

“That they announced on national TV say I won N7.5 million with a brand-new car and I’m supposed to have a two-week trip to Dubai. I go through hell after winning the show,” he lamented.
