I set higher standards for myself – Mohammed Kudus admits underwhelming start to season

West Ham forward, Mohammed Kudus, has acknowledged his underwhelming start to the season, admitting he has not met the high expectations he sets for himself.

The Ghanaian international has struggled to make a consistent impact under new Head Coach Graham Potter, often being substituted before the 70th minute in most matches.

Speaking ahead of West Ham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Sunday, Kudus opened up about his performance and the team’s need for consistency.

Despite the challenges, the 24-year-old has managed three Premier League goals and one assist this season.

“I think definitely I want more,” Kudus said in an interview on the club’s website. “I set higher standards for myself. I’m not there yet, but we keep working because individually and as a team, we all know the reality of the situation we are in.”

Kudus also reflected on his versatility, highlighting the differences between playing as a central striker and on the flank.

“It’s a whole different feeling playing in the centre and then being out wide. My aim is to analyze both situations and help the team in the best possible way.”
