I have spoken to Prof Naana Jane and she is fine, so why have you sidelined her? – NPP MP questions Mahama

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Trobu Constituency, Gloria Owusu, has raised concerns about the absence of Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang from President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

According to the MP, she has been in touch with the Vice President and knows she has recovered from her recent illness. However, she claims that Mahama’s administration has sidelined Professor Naana Jane.

In an interview on Oyerepa TV on April 25, 2025, Gloria Owusu alleged speculations suggest the president is planning to appoint a new Vice President.

She further accused President Mahama of failing to fulfil his promise of appointing at least 30% of women in his government.

“What is happening? What we are hearing is that they have sidelined the women,” Gloria Owusu stated.

“The president of the land has made the woman sit outside his government and wants to appoint someone else as Vice President of Ghana. What are we hearing? is it true?

“I am asking, where is Professor Naana Jane? Where is Professor Naana Jane? I am saying the woman is very well. Professor Naana Jane is well, so where is she?

“She is fine. Some of us speak to her, and she is fine. That is why I am asking: has our president, John Dramani Mahama, used the women and dumped them? Is it true?”

Meanwhile, President Mahama recently stated that the Vice President has recovered from her illness and will resume her duties soon.
