“I didn’t want to help my brother to sell his girlfriend until he told me she has no family member

The Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command nabbed two brothers Ayomide Babtunde and Gbenga Babatunde for allegedly kidnapping a woman and her son for ritual purposes.

The development was confirmed by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi that the two brothers were arrested by men of the Ogun state police command in the early hours of December 30th, 2022.

The Suspects were reportedly arrested following information received at Oja Odan divisional police headquarters that the two brothers were allegedly negotiating on phone to sell a human being either in parts or alive, depending on how the buyer wanted it.

The Supposed buyer, who’s one Jacob Olorunto then informed the Baale of the community about the intention of the suspects on December 29th, 2022.

The Suspects had called Olorunro and informed him that they have two human beings for sale a woman and her male child. And the negotiated fee was 600,000 naira.

One of the Suspects, Ayomide Babatunde went to Ilaro and lured his 45-year-old girlfriend Taye Oluwole to follow him to Oja Odan with her nine-year-old son, Remilekun Oluwole, to celebrate the new year with his father.

The woman innocently agreed to follow him. While they picked up the second suspect on the road, Gbenga Babatunde. From there, they took the victims to the Igbo Obe area of Oja Odan to meet Olorunto, the policemen in collaboration with some youths at about 12:30 midnight rescued the woman and her son.

The younger brother who’s an accomplice in the case has confessed while in custody that it was his older brother who brought the idea of selling his girlfriend, he said, ”My brother called me and told me that he wanted to sell his girlfriend and her baby. I told him I don’t have any link to such business but he insisted that I should get one.

He told me his girlfriend does not have any family members that will look for her if she gets missing and I that was how I got lured into the idea. So as a painter,r I got access to one man who was interested in buying and we decided to meet at his house. My brother took his girlfriend and her son to the man’s house while I stayed outside to avoid any suspicion. Suddenly, the youths in the community entered the Baba compound and took us to the police station. My brother told me I will get N300,000 from the deal but we got nothing in the end.”
