I am one of the reasons why NPP is in power today – Odike brags

Politician and businessman, Akwasi Addai Odike has said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is in power today partly due to his efforts, warning them that they did not win the 2016 polls based on its strengths, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

He revealed that what propelled the elephant family to victory was the weakness of the governing NationalDemocratic Congress (NDC) at the time cautioning the NPP against complacency in2020 he said could spell doom for their fortunes.

Though he admits the margin of defeat was wide, he observed that two into the administration of the current Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government much is still required to consolidate the gains of the NPP.

Commenting on the decision by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako to challenge the comeback of former President John Dramani Mahama, the Founder and Leader of theUnited Front Party (UFP) said he was only making Mr Mahama more popular.

“The margin NPP beat the NDC with is so wide. If you begin to do some of these things you are making Mahamapropular if after Mahama’s defeat in 2016 Wontumi feels something has changed and the popularity of the former President is soaring, I will beg him as theRegional Chairman, he should focus on things that will strengthen his party”, he stated,

Continuing his argument he said “NPP did not win the 2016 elections at its own strength it was won at the weakness of NDC. I was part of the NPP’s 2016 victory because I aligned with them”

According to him, it is immaterial for Chairman Wontumi to be prosecuting such an agenda when that is not the immediate needs of Ghanaians.

“Chairman Wontumi will agree that two years of the current administration the ambitious projects are in line, the immediate needs of Ghanaians is to fix the economy. Preparations of Ghanaians towards Christmas is down because of the economy. These are the immediate pressing needs of Ghanaians you must work and ensure there is money in the pockets of Ghanaians because money answers everything”, he observed.
