Ashanti Regional Chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has stated he once nearly shot investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas for posing as an official of the Ghana Revenue Authority to blackmail his Hansol Mining company.

Chairman Wontumi alleged, Anas and some other guys stormed his small mining site claiming they were there to inspect the company’s tax compliance and other statutory payments.

The outspoken NPP Chairman in an interview with Abusua Nkommo’s Kwame Adinkra also alleged that Anas works for ex-President John Mahama and his brother Ibrahim Mahama.

“I don’t know Anas in NPP; I know Anas to be a Mahama Boy. He works for the NDC. He is a very corrupt guy and very soon I will come out. I once pulled a gun on him”, he said.

The NPP Chairman adds, “Anas demanded some huge monies from me in order to let me off the hook, but because I knew my documents and tax payments were all in order, I refused to give him money.”

“I even pulled a gun on him and subsequently involved the police to arrest him for extortion and I am daring Anas to come out and deny what I am saying if eh has a contrary opinion,” Wontumi added.

Wontumi’s allegations comes after NPP MP Kennedy Agyapong has made similar claims.

“If you take his tapes to the lab, you can detect they have been cut and some taken out; that is what will make you know he is a liar”, he said.

Kennedy Agyapong revealed on Adom FM’s morning show, “Dwaso Nsem” that Anas had tried to “blackmail” Chairman Wontumi a number of times but failed.

“Who wanted to set up chairman Wontumi; he tried setting Wontumi up with some women”, Agyapong asserted.
