Husband divorces wife over alleged poor hygiene

Adeboye Omotayo, a Nigerian public servant, has taken his wife, Ella to a court in Jikwoyi to divorce her over poor hygiene.

According to Omotayo, he could no longer tolerate his wife’s poor hygiene practice.

He said: “The main problem that I have been having with my wife after marriage, is that she doesn’t know how to tidy up the house.

“Whenever I come back from work to have my rest, I can’t because the whole house will be filthy and smelling.

“I tried coping with that but now I can’t continue because she has refused to take care of herself too; she is always looking unkempt.

“She has no love, respect and affection for me anymore. My wife gangs up with her family members to insult, curse and threaten me.”

The presiding judge, Thelma Baba adjourned the case until January 28, for report of settlement/hearing.
