The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, received a rousing welcome when he visited the Asuogyaman, Lower Manya, and Yilo Krobo constituencies in the Eastern Region.
Thousands flocked to the different meeting places to hear Dr. Bawumia’s speech amid cheers and clapping.
Taking advantage of the massive gathering, the vice president presented his policy recommendations to the assembly and asked people to support not only him for presidency, but also the NPP’s parliamentary candidates.
Dr. Bawumia stressed that if he is voted for, he will introduce “bold solutions,” while a vote for his main opponent, former President John Mahama, will see a return of “old solutions.”
Dr. Bawumia highlighted his achievements as vice president, including resolving generational issues, and promised to do more as president.
He presented his novel concepts and audacious fixes, which included a revamped National Service Program, a million young Ghanaians being trained in software development and coding, a new tax structure, and the introduction of a Ghana Card passport policy.
The NPP flagbearer also contrasted the NDC and NPP’s track records, highlighting the NPP’s greater accomplishments in the areas of digitization, healthcare, tourism, economic indicators, education, and sports infrastructure, among other areas.
Dr. Bawumia also outlined the main initiatives of the NPP, such as LEAP, District Road Improvement Program, Free SHS, One District One Ambulance, extended health insurance, free basic education and school lunches, and the return of teacher training allowances and nurses’ pay.
In addition, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the NPP’s dedication to security, hiring of over 30,000 workers, and the One District One Factory program, which has boosted local economies and produced jobs.
He exhorted the party’s grassroots members to put forth great efforts in order to secure a parliamentary majority and the presidency in 2024.
“We are poised to vote for the NPP this time around because we believe Bawumia has the solutions that can change the destiny of this country,” a young lady who attended the event stated in a report by dailyguidenetwork.com.
Another added: “The number of people who came out to see Dr. Bawumia are extraordinary huge. It has never happened here before that NPP will be here and you see all these people coming out. Things will definitely change for the party in the December elections.”
