How vapour from a client’s hair mysteriously blinded a hairdresser

A former hairdresser, Beatrice Agyei, has shared the story of how she lost her sight at the age of 18 when she was re-touching the hair of a client she was assigned to at her home.

In a post shared on X by EDHUB, the lady indicated she was designated by her boss to go and make the client’s hair at her house because she had given birth.

She added that while re-touching the client’s hair, vapour came out from the back of the head and went straight to her eyes, causing blurred vision and subsequently causing her to lose her sight.

In the video, Beatrice is heard saying that she was not born with the blindness.

“No please,“ she said when asked the question in the video.

She further narrated, “I was a hairdresser. I was re-touching someone’s hair when vapour came out from the persons hair into my eyes. I was an apprentice. The person had given birth and my madam asked me to go to her house and make her hair. Whiles re-touching the hair, I saw her take a mirror and she looked into it but I didn’t ask her anything.

“I was fixing rollers after washing when I saw vapour coming out from the back of the client’s head and it entered my eyes, like when you bring food from fire and you try to separate water from the food, the vapour you see coming out of it,” she said in Twi.

The interviewer then puts this question her; “It is alleged that as a hairdresser, when you are about to touch someone’s hair, you have to say sorry. Didn’t you say it?”

She responded, “My madam didn’t teach me so I didn’t know.”

Beatrice further said, “When it happened like that, I began to experience a blurred vision. I was entering potholes on my way home. My vision became a bit clearer when I scratched my eyes. A good Samaritan saw me and asked me what happened and I told the person my story after which he held my hand and took me home. My madam told me that I was telling lies after I informed her. She said I was a liar.”
