How Dr. Likee’s ex-girlfriend left him due to financial challenges

Popular Ghanaian skit comedian Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, also known as Dr. Likee, has shared how his then-girlfriend and mother of his child left him due to financial challenges in his early days of acting.

In an interview with ZionFelix, Dr. Likee recounted the struggles of his early career, where he often returned home empty-handed after shooting movies, leading to complaints from his partner about his inability to provide.

“In those days, things were not easy. Sometimes, you would tell your woman that you were going on set to shoot a movie, but you would come back with nothing in hand, and she would start complaining that you couldn’t help her,” he said.

Dr. Likee highlighted the temptation for their partners to leave them for financially stable men, which he said was a common challenge faced by many men in the entertainment industry.

Citing the story of the late South African reggae musician Lucky Dube, he noted that this pattern often changes once the woman leaves, as success tends to follow shortly after.

“A beautiful woman will surely meet a man who will show her ‘love’ with money when she steps out. Once that happens, she will leave you because you have nothing to offer her. But the moment the lady leaves is the very moment things begin to work out for you.

“This happened to Lucky Dube… After the woman left, things began to get better for him. Then the child would ask why she didn’t stay with the father.

“Most stars face these challenges. Their marriages are always something else if the Holy Spirit is not involved,” he said.
