President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has ordered the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to chart a path in ending the issue of vigilantism in the country.

The two parties after going back and forth, met on Tuesday, 9th April, 2019 and a communiqué that came forth after the meeting indicated a united front and the willingness to end vigilantism.

But it appears the reality is far from the truth regarding the united front being painted.

Hours after the meeting, the NDC accused the ruling party of not being cooperative in terms of the scope of the discussion. The NPP also fired back condemning their posture.

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, told Okay FM in an interview on Wednesday, that the ruling party is clearly not ready to help disband vigilantism in the country by their demeanor, and should be blamed if the talks fail.

However, National Organiser of the NPP, Sammy Awuku, who was present at the meeting, indicated that but for the posture of the opposition party, he would not have let out what really transpired.

He shockingly disclosed that the NDC ‘threatened’ to walk out of the meeting on ‘three occasions’ citing several excuses.

Watch the video below to listen to Sammy Awuku disclosing how the NDC threatened to walk out and the reasons they gave.
