Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi Graces Church of Pentecost Dedication, Calls for Peace in Nkwanta South

On Sunday, 22nd June 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Honourable Joseph Awal Antwi, joined the Church of Pentecost at Nkwanta Sabon in the Oti Region for the dedication of its newly completed church auditorium.

The ceremony, organized by the Church of Pentecost – Nkwanta Sabon District, was a momentous occasion that brought together church leaders, congregants, traditional authorities, and members of the wider community in a spirit of thanksgiving, worship, and unity.

The event was graced by the Area Head Pastor, Apostle Seth Dwamena Asante, and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Dwamena Asante, whose presence added to the significance of the dedication. Apostle Dwamena Asante led the official dedication rites and delivered an inspiring message on the importance of building not only physical churches but also strong spiritual foundations in the community.

Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi was invited as a special guest and also represented the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South, Honourable Geoffrey Kini, who was unable to attend due to official engagements.

In his remarks, Hon. Antwi congratulated the church for the successful completion of the auditorium and commended its leadership for contributing meaningfully to both spiritual and infrastructural growth in the area.

“This magnificent house of worship is not only a place of prayer but also a symbol of hope, unity, and community development,” he said. “The Church of Pentecost continues to play a critical role in shaping moral values and fostering peace in Nkwanta South.”

He further appealed to the church to support ongoing efforts for peace within the municipality by offering persistent prayers and spiritual guidance, especially in light of recent disturbances in some parts of the district.

“As a leader, I can only do so much physically. But we also need divine intervention. I humbly ask the church to keep Nkwanta South in prayer so that peace will reign across every community,” he stated.

Hon. Antwi also referenced his recent visit to His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, where he similarly requested spiritual support for peace in the area.

“Just a few days ago, I was in Accra to meet the National Chief Imam, and I sought his blessings and prayers for our people. Today, I repeat that same plea to the Christian community: let us work together, Muslim and Christian alike, for the sake of lasting peace,” he added.

The District Pastor of Nkwanta Sabon, in his welcome address, acknowledged the commitment of the municipal leadership and expressed appreciation to the MCE for honoring the church’s invitation.

Apostle Seth Dwamena Asante, while leading the dedication, praised the congregation for their unity, sacrifice, and determination in building the auditorium, and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their faith and commitment to the growth of the church and their community.

“This building stands as a testimony to what God can do when His people walk in unity,” Apostle Asante declared. “Let this place be a house of prayer, healing, and transformation for generations to come.”

His wife, Mrs. Margaret Dwamena Asante, also delivered a short exhortation, encouraging the women and youth of the church to remain actively involved in the work of God and in supporting initiatives that promote peace and development.

The dedication ceremony featured joyful praise and worship sessions, heartfelt prayers, and blessings over the auditorium and its future use. The atmosphere was one of reverence, celebration, and renewed hope for the future.

Community elders and traditional leaders present also praised the Church of Pentecost for its role in promoting not just religious devotion but also moral leadership and social cohesion in Nkwanta South.

In his concluding remarks, Hon. Joseph Awal Antwi reaffirmed the municipal assembly’s commitment to supporting faith-based institutions and called for deeper collaboration to address the district’s challenges.

“Together, through prayer, partnership, and purposeful leadership, we can build a peaceful and prosperous Nkwanta South,” he said.

The dedication service on 22nd June 2025 will be remembered not only as a celebration of a physical structure but as a call to spiritual action, unity, and enduring peace in the municipality.
