Watch viral video of Afenyo-Markin’s alleged biological father who refutes neglecting him

A video of a man claiming to be the biological father of Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has gone viral.

In the said video, which was reportedly taken on February 20, 2025, a woman who was with the man who said he is Afenyo-Markin’s father in his home at Tsiame, in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, refuted assertions that he did not take care of his son.

According to the woman, who goes by the name Abla Amewota Amable, Afenyo-Markin grew up in the home of his father until he was taken away by his mother, who hails from Winneba in the Central Region.

She also said that Afenyo-Markin’s father, whose name is Moses Apetogou Afenyo Kofi, gave his son the name Afenyo; adding that Markin is the name of the Minority Leader’s mother’s father and not his stepfather as asserted.

“This is Afenyo-Markin’s hometown and this is his biological father. Afenyo-Markin lived here as a child and attended the Roman Catholic school here in Tsiame.

“He had an older sister called Mawusi. They were two by their mother for their father. Those of you who said the Markin is the stepfather’s name, we were just told that Markin is the maternal grandfather’s name,” Amable said.

She added, “His mother’s grandfather is Markin from Winneba. Afenyo is the name his father gave him. So, there you have it.”

She also said that Afenyo-Markin’s father is a retired agricultural technician and not a carpenter as claimed by some.

She indicated that the father of the Minority Leader was very well-educated and worked for the government until he was forced to retire.

“Somebody said the father is a carpenter from Konya. No, he is by profession an agricultural technician. He attended Tamale Polytechnic. Thereafter, he proceeded to Rome to study agriculture extension for the third world countries. From there, he proceeded to read General Administration at GIMPA.

“And he was working for the government when he was persecuted politically, fired from his job and retired under age 40,” she added.
