Here’s why Victor Osimhen would cry when he leaves Napoli this summer

Victor Osimhen will likely leave Napoli at the end of the current season.

The Nigerian striker has been linked with some of the big clubs in England and France as the summer window approaches.

The 25-year-old has hinted that he could cry when his time to say goodbye comes.

The Athletic reported in February that French giants, Paris Saint-Germain, had shortlisted the African Footballer of the Year to replace Kylian Mbappe, who will almost certainly leave this summer.

Osimhen had a historic 2022/23 season and has probably outgrown Napoli, who have struggled to defend the league title they won last year.

The Nigerian joined the club in 2020 and has become a fan favourite at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. He recently lauded Napoli fans for their support.

“When I have to look for a word to describe them, I am speechless because they are absolutely electrifying. I have never seen anything like this that takes football so seriously; the way fans support the team is truly unbelievable,” he said via Football Italia.

The striker added that he understands why Napoli legends cry when they leave, insinuating he would do the same.

“I understand why some legends of the past cried when they left Naples, because it is an extraordinary emotion to play in the stadium and hear your name shouted from the first minute to the 90th, supporting the team and cheering.”

Osimhen has scored 74 goals in 129 appearances at the club.
