He was stabbed 17 times in 30 seconds – Sister of Ghanaian student killed in Canada speaks

Lydia Obeng, the sister of Alfred, a 23-year-old Canada-based Ghanaian who a coworker stabbed, has shared more details about the incident.

She said her brother was stabbed 17 times in under 30 seconds during an altercation.

According to her, that information was disclosed to her by the police.

Speaking in a viral video, she said, “There was an altercation and then they stabbed him 17 times within a pace of 30 seconds. Alfred’s name never crossed my mind when I saw the police here. At one point, I thought the police had come to the wrong address because I knew he was very calm.

His sister, drowned in tears while narrating the incident recounted the moment she learned of her brother’s death, saying, “He left home around 2:40, took an Uber, and went to work. It was a new job he had started just last Wednesday. But around 1:20 AM, the police knocked at my door to tell me he was gone. I couldn’t believe it until they brought me his bags.”

She added, “I couldn’t believe it until they brought me his bags. In fact, I packed his lunch, and everything when he was leaving. And yeah, and a document we took to SGI I packed everything in. So clearly it told me that he was the one. That was all the information we got as to what happened, she added.

The late Alfred’s sister said he had never mentioned any issues at work or conflicts with coworkers, before this incident.

“He tells me everything as soon as he gets home. Alfred never came home and told me he had an issue with a coworker. Nothing,” she said.

She also highlighted his brother’s calm demeanour and close bond with her.

“He tells me everything, in fact almost every day as soon as he enters, Sister, then I said, you are always bringing news. Yeah, to the extent we hear that level. I’m sorry to let my husband know. Alfred knows the password to my phone, even my bank account. I know his password too, but my husband doesn’t know. So, you know, that level,” she stated.
