Transfer: Alonso confirms Boniface close to Al Nassr move

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Victor Boniface is closing in on a move to the Saudi Pro League.

According to widespread reports, the Bundesliga title holders are in advanced talks with Al Nassr over a possible move for the Nigerian international.

Recent reports, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, also indicate that the 24-year-old was absent from Bayer Leverkusen’s training session today as the deal nears completion.

Addressing rumours surrounding Boniface’s future, Leverkusen boss Alonso stated that the team is preparing for their UEFA Champions League clash against Sparta Prague on Wednesday, January 29.

“There is this situation and I understand that. There are discussions with the club,” Alonso said in a pre-match press conference.

“We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.”

Boniface recently extended his contract with Leverkusen to 2029.
