Kofi Adams reveals details of meeting with GFA over Otto Addo’s future

He noted that after the GFA provided their justification for the decision, he did not push further, as he awaits Otto Addo’s performance in the upcoming matches.

The Member of Parliament for Buem constituency asserted that the imminency of the World Cup qualifiers meant that he had to respect the GFA’s decision despite his reservations.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 on March 17, 2025, Adams said that, due to the qualifiers, sacking Otto Addo is not a priority for the government.

“The GFA brought the coach and the other persons to introduce them to me. At that meeting, I raised all those issues. Am I satisfied? I would say time will tell, but I had my concerns, and those concerns, I registered them. But I think at this moment, and at the time that I became the minister, we were too close to these qualifiers.

“So, the issue of changes should not be on the table. That should be the last thing. The issue on the table now is how to prepare the team for the tasks ahead of us,” he said.

Despite calls for Addo’s dismissal, the GFA decided to allow him to lead Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars will face Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium before facing Madagascar in an away fixture on March 24, 2025.
