GRIDCo junior staff calls on Mahama for transformational leadership to drive ‘reset’ agenda

A group of junior staff members at the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) have issued a call to President John Dramani Mahama for the appointment of a transformational leader to spearhead the company’s role in the reset agenda and the broader economic restoration plan outlined in the National Democractic Congress (NDC) Manifesto.

In a letter signed by Comrade Kwame Gyan on behalf of the junior staff, the group highlighted the necessity of appointing a leader with deep industry knowledge, creativity, and innovation to ensure GRIDCo’s continued contribution to national development.

“The company urgently requires a leader who is not only committed to this vision but also possesses a proven track record of creativity, innovation, and dedication to the energy sector. This leader must firmly believe that the success of the NDC government is their success and, likewise, its challenges are theirs to overcome.

“We, the dedicated professionals at GRIDCo, have an extensive background in the management of transmission assets and system operations of the National Interconnected Transmission System (NITS),” part of the letter said.

They emphasize that the success of the NDC government is intrinsically linked to GRIDCo’s progress and stability.

The junior staff alleged that a well-known New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer, is being given last-minute backing to become CEO.

They argue that any leader brought in from outside the organization, without familiarity with the energy sector’s technical and investment landscape, could jeopardize these achievements.

The group underscores the importance of internal leadership by citing the strategic insights, project execution, and stakeholder relationships developed by GRIDCo professionals.

They warn against appointing individuals affiliated with the opposition NPP or those associated with past unpopular policies, suggesting that such a decision could erode employee confidence and enthusiasm.

To ensure the best leadership decision, the junior staff urged the president and the party leadership to conduct thorough independent background checks before making any appointments.

They reaffirm their unwavering support for the NDC government and stress that GRIDCo’s future leadership must align with the party’s mission and the reset agenda.
