Head of the legal team for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba, has said the Akufo-Addo-led administration uses Covid-19 as justification for its abysmal performance in government.

According to him, the government finds every opportunity to blame their poor performance on Covid-19.

Speaking on TV3’s New Day, the private legal practitioner said he has always maintained that government officials will likely blame their personal conjugal non-performance on Covid-19.

He was reacting to the latest concerns raised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Okudzeto Ablakwa regarding Akufo-Addo’s latest international travels in which the president reportedly chartered a luxurious flight at $14, 000 per hour.

Mr. Amaliba said the spending habit of Akufo-Addo contradicts the promises he made to Ghanaians when he assumed office.

“This is a man who said he was coming to protect the public purse, I’ve heard people say that now the purse cannot even be found, he’s taken the whole purse away, in fact, he has dissipated the whole purse”, he said.

He insists the failure of the government to keep its promise has caused government officials to resort to blaming Covid-19 for everything in the country.

“Anything that goes bad under this administration and you’re criticizing them they said oh it’s the COVID, they blame everything on the COVID and I was here last week to tell you that I’m sure if some of them cannot impregnate their wives they’ll say COVID is the cause so they have to use COVID as the excuse for their poor performance”, he said.
