Government approves 10% salary increase for public sector workers

This decision follows successful negotiations between Organised Labour/Associations and President John Dramani Mahama, who personally engaged with them to secure their support for the adjustment.

On Monday, February 3, 2025, the National Tripartite Committee, comprising representatives from the government, employers, and Organised Labour/Associations, began discussions to determine the 2025 minimum wage and salary adjustments.

The last salary increase for public sector workers in Ghana was in 2024 when the government approved a 23% raise to adjust for the cost of living and economic conditions.

The Government of Ghana increased the base pay of all public servants by 23% for the first half of 2024 (January to June) and by 25% for the second half (July to December).

In line with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the National Tripartite Committee increased the national daily minimum wage from GH¢14.88 to GH¢18.15 effective January 1, 2024.
