Budding Ghanaian gospel artiste, Annjoy, known in private life as Anita Joyce Osei Boateng, has appealed to radio presenters and show hosts in Ghana to support upcoming artistes, by playing their songs on their shows.
This, she said, will go a long way to grow their careers, noting that many dreams have collapsed because of the lack of support from industry players and relevant stakeholders.
“Upcoming artistes find it difficult to fund and promote their songs. I will plead with presenters, they should help play our songs on their shows. The presenters feel that the big artistes alone ought to be pushed or promoted but remember they started from somewhere,” she said.
Annjoy disclosed how challenging it has been over the years. She recounted how those who had promised to push her career later disappointed, the reason she took so long in releasing a song.
“I have had this talent since when I was little but I paid more attention to my music career since the age of 19 in Takoradi. As young as I was, I get inspirations to write songs and I was able to put together a demo with the help of a friend,” she recounted.
“The studio manager where my demo was recorded believed in my talent and made me do some BVs for him at the studio. Although I had people promising to manage and sign me unto a record label it never happened. I put together the demo in 2009. I was never able to promote my demo due to some societal pressures,” Annjoy disclosed.
She also spoke on her latest single “You are Bigger” saying she wrote the new song in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and recorded it in June 2022.
“I am also working on other songs and I promise Ghanaians not to release just anything but very good, thoughtful, and inspirational gospel music,” she added.
She also announced that the video of the song is ready and placed on YouTube.
Having thanked everyone who played a significant role in her life and career, she looked forward to working with Ceccy Twum and and taking the Ghana gospel music to another level.
