Gory scenes as fuel tanker crashes into VIP bus, killing 7 people

A tragic road accident involving a VIP bus and a fuel tanker occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 21, 2024, near Obretima, close to Akyem Apedwa in the Eastern Region.

The accident has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, with 25 others sustaining injuries.

According to a report by adomonline.com, the Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NSRA) David Osafo Adonteng who confirmed the accident said it involved a VIP bus and a diesel fuel tanker which were travelling in opposite directions.

He said the tyre of the fuel tanker, which was traveling from Accra to Kumasi, burst, causing it to veer into the lane of the VIP bus at Obretima.

David Osafo Adonteng stated that the emergency service worked effectively to ensure that some passengers who were trapped after the accident were rescued.

The victims have since been rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical attention.
