Akufo-Addo to commission largest school of nursing and midwifery in sub-Saharan Africa

The Deputy Minister for Education, John Ntim Fordjour, has announced that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is poised to commission the largest school of nursing and midwifery in sub-Saharan Africa.

This monumental development is part of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHaS) in Ho, Ghana.

In a tweet, he wrote “This is the largest School of Nursing and Midwifery in Sub-Saharan Africa. This is in Ghana and another sterling legacy of President Akufo-Addo.”

He elaborated that the project, known as Phase II of UHaS, is now complete and ready for commissioning.

The new facility boasts an ultra-modern skills laboratory, multiple lecture halls with a total seating capacity of 2,500 (including four halls seating 200 students each and 17 halls seating 100 students each), and a multi-purpose central administration complex, alongside ancillary facilities.

“I was privileged to accompany President Akufo-Addo to cut the sod for this $68 million project in September 2021, and will accompany the President to commission it on Monday, July 29, 2024,” Ntim-Fordjour added.
