GJA Set to Issue Membership ID Cards After Decade-Long Delay

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is finally poised to begin printing and issuing membership Identity (ID) cards this week, bringing an end to more than a decade of delays that have plagued the association due to financial and technical hurdles.

This significant breakthrough follows a successful agreement forged between the GJA and Margins Group, a prominent Ghanaian company specializing in secure identity solutions, card manufacturing, and digitalization services. The entire production process for these long-awaited ID cards is being generously sponsored by KGL Group.

In a press release issued by the Ghana Journalists Association on June 23, 2025, members are instructed to submit a soft copy of a passport-size photograph. The photo must be in JPG format, taken against a white background, and emailed to gja.passportphoto@gmail.com. The GJA emphasized that the photograph must be of high quality and that “selfies” will not be accepted. Submissions must also be accompanied by the member’s full name, organization, region, and contact details.

The GJA has indicated that the new ID cards will be processed and delivered based on the order in which submissions are received. Priority, the association stated, will be given to members who are in good standing, as recently listed in the national dailies.

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the GJA President who assumed office in 2022, highlighted that resolving the long-standing issue of membership ID cards was a core commitment of his administration. “I am very excited to see this day finally come, and I believe members will be equally excited about this development, given the fact that they have been so much concerned about their ID cards,” he remarked.

He extended his profound gratitude to both Margins Group and KGL Group for their invaluable support in bringing this initiative to fruition and helping the Association fulfill a crucial promise to its members.
