Give us traffic lights so that our kids can also learn -Goaso Chief begs Akufo-Addo
The Omanhene of Goaso Traditional Council Nana Baffour Kwasi Bosomprah is pleading with president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for traffic lights in the area and the Ahafo Region as a whole.
His justification is that school children have over years learnt about traffic lights but only see them physically when they travel to Sunyani or other urban centres but those who have never travelled outside their comfort zones are yet to sight one.
The Chief commended the Akufo-Addo led government for the several developmental projects initiated in the newly created Ahafo Region with Goaso as its capital but reiterated the importance of traffic lights for the people
Welcoming the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at his palace in Goaso during his recent visit to the area, he appealed to him to provide traffic lights at major intersections to stem the numerous road crashes in the Region.
“One thing I will want you to add to the various development projects is a traffic light. Some people will disagree with me that it is a small thing but this isn’t small at all. In 1912 there was no town in the Ahafo area and till date there is none. School children have read and seen traffic lights in books but till date they are yet to see some. Unless they travel to urban areas like Kumasi or Sunyani they will not have the opportunity of seeing one”, he pleaded.
Nana Baffour Kwasi Bosomprah stressed “Immediately let there be traffic lights in this area starting from Goaso so that it will be part of the history making process. It is historic for this area to have traffic lights because the children can also see physically of what they have been learning in the books”
The Omanhene, amongst other developments, pledged to support government with large acres of land for development projects to benefit the general public.
He also commended the president for the creation of Ahafo region and the cutting of sod for the construction of offices of the Ahafo House of Chiefs.
