GHS to begin recruitment of nurses next week

The Ghana Health Service has announced that it will begin the recruitment of community health nurses from Wednesday February 27.

It comes after the nurses challenged claims by President Akufo-Addo that his government has recruited nurses in his state of the nation address in parliament last week.

“We the unemployed nurses are utterly shocked to our bone marrow hearing the president of the republic of Ghana, H. E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo telling the whole nation that “The nurse Assistants that have been employed belong to the tranches that pass their exams in 2016 from government health training institutions and have commenced work by 1st February, 2019.”

“This statement from the president is a blatant falsehood which is being peddled by the president and his incompetent informant (Minister of Health).

“We want to place on record that not even a single nurse from the government health training institutions has been employed since 2018 til date,” the nurses said in a press release.

In a statement Monday, the GHS said it “wishes to inform the general public, particularly, the 2016 batch of Nurse Assistants Preventive (Community Health Nurses) and Nurse Assistants Clinical (Enrolled Nurses) that it will commence recruitment process on Wednesday, 27th February, 2019.

“NAPs and NACs who are part of the group whose financial clearance has been received and intend to work in the various health facilities under the Ghana Health Service are kindly requested to formally apply online by logging onto the GHS online application portal
https://ghs-recruitment.com/2019/ and follow relevant instructions”.

The application for enrollment will be done online .  Deadline for submission of application is Friday, 15th March, 2019
