Ghana’s Vice President Prof Naana Jane released

The Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has provided a positive update on the health status of Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, following her recent health scare.

The lawmaker shared that the vice president is in good health and condition as she seeks medical treatment abroad, following recommendations from medical experts.

“This evening, we received information from a credible source indicating that our esteemed vice president is in a very good condition,” he shared the update on Facebook on April 3, 2025.

Quayson went on to offer prayers for her quick and steady recovery, asking for the blessings of God for her health.

He expressed relief over the news, wishing for Vice President Opoku-Agyemang’s swift return to the country so she can continue executing her duties with the same dedication she has always shown.

“May God/Allah continue to bless her with good health. We are all relieved by this news and wish her a swift return to her duties, serving the nation with the same dedication and grace she always has,” he added.

The update follows official earlier communications from the Office of the President announcing that the Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, was in the hospital on Saturday, March 29, 2025.

The statement added that she had to receive medical treatment on Saturday.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, it followed a sudden illness of the vice president after work hours on Friday.

“The Vice President, Her Excellency Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, received treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre on Saturday due to a sudden illness that occurred after work on Friday, March 28, 2025,” the statement said.

It added that although she had since been attended to at the UGMC, she would travel for further medical attention.

The statement clarified that this is due to expert opinion.

“Based on expert medical opinion, she will seek further care abroad,” the statement added.

The statement ended with well wishes to the vice president, stating, “We wish the Vice President a speedy recovery.”
