Ghana’s new CitizenApp leads global downloads record on Playstore and IOS

Ghana’s newly launched digital CitizenApp, the digital platform for all digital public service delivery, which was launched on Monday, is already shattering global records for downloads.

Within 72 hours of its launch on Monday, the CitizenApp has climbed to the top of popular apps being downloaded on two of the leading mobile download platforms in the world, google Playstore and IOS.

On Google’s Play store, the CitizenApp is ranked the number one most downloaded app in the world, in the past 82 hours, above popular apps, WhatsApp, TikTok and MyMomo app, which follow in second, third and fourth respectively.

On IOS, the Citizens app is the second most downloaded app behind TikTok, which leads at number one.

This remarkable development confirms how Ghanaians, both at home and abroad, have embraced the newly launched one-stop app for Ghanaians to access digital public service.

The CitizensApp brings all government or public digital service delivery on one platform to ensure a seamless and less stressful digital experience for citizens.

Launching the app on Monday, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the launch of the app marked another step in the government’s quest to give Ghanaians a seamless digital experience in the effort to digitise Ghana.

The Vice President said the CitizenApp has been built with personalised features like the Ghana Card, adding that it is a lifetime, which can be personalised for every Ghanaian citizen, from birth and throughout one’s lifetime.

The app can be used to register the birth of a newborn, access public services, pay bills, file taxes and even be used in looking for jobs, as there there are features for announcing job vacancies.

Vice President Bawumia urged Ghanaians to download the app for a new digital experience, and the results on both Playstore and Apple Store indicate overwhelming patronage.

Also, there have been rave reviews for the app, as many of those who have already used it have shared their exciting experiences on various social media platforms and on the app’s reviews.
