Niger humiliated Sudan 4-0 in the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which was played on neutral grounds in Togo on November 14, 2024.
Sudan, led by Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah, could not maintain the momentum they had in previous games as the Nigeriens exploited their porous defence.
Youssouf Oumarou, Ousseini Badasmassi, and Daniel Sosah’s first-half brace helped Niger secure an emphatic victory over Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Despite pressure from Sudan to come back into the game, their efforts were not enough to penetrate Niger’s defensive setup to score a goal.
The result comes as a relief for the Black Stars, who must win their two remaining games and hope Sudan loses their last match against Angola to stand a chance of qualifying.
As things stand, Angola are leading Group F with twelve points, Sudan are second with seven points, Niger are third with four points, and Ghana at the bottom with just two points.
Sudan will make it to the 2025 AFCON if they get a draw in their last game against Angola.
Ghana will play Angola, who have already qualified for the tournament, on November 15, 2024, and return to host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on November 18, 2024.
