Ghanaians living in Dubai reportedly in police cells without trial for over 6 months – Dafeamekpor

South Dayi Member of Parliament, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is reporting that there are arbitrary arrests of Ghanaian citizens living in Dubai.

Raising concerns over the development in parliament, the NDC lawmaker stated that some of the arrested victims have been in custody for over 6 months and have been denied access to their friends without legal process.

Dafeamekpor called for immediate intervention from the foreign affairs ministry to address issues related to possible human rights violations of the Ghanaian victims.

“There is a very serious matter concerning some Ghanaians in Dubai. Lots of Ghanaians are being arrested without recourse to a legal process. They are neither deported nor being granted access to their colleagues to even visit them and its such a major matter…

“We want to urge the leadership to invite the minister for foreign affairs and regional integration to come and brief the house. They are a lot, in fact, three of my constituents are involved that is how come I got to know they are in police cells,” he lamented.
