Ghanaians descend heavily on DCOP Lydia Donkor after new details emerge on Pooley’s death

Pooley met his untimely death on Sunday, February 2, 2025, after being fatally stabbed during a violent clash that erupted during Asante Kotoko’s game against Nsoatreman at the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.

A scuffle between players of both teams escalated into a full-blown brawl in the stands as home and away fans clashed.

The death led to the Ghana Football Association, charging DCOP Donkor to lead the investigations as they sought justice.

With earlier reports suggesting he was stabbed inside the stadium, many have questioned the police’s handling of the case.

After DCOP Donkor’s interview with JoySports, some Ghanaians have accused her of downplaying key aspects of the incident, after she contradicted earlier reports by stating that Pooley was not stabbed inside the stadium but rather outside.

“This unfortunate incident [the fan’s stabbing didn’t happen inside the stadium. It happened outside, and he was picked by a tricycle and dropped at that section of the stadium,” she old JoySports.

Her revelations have further fueled public outrage, with many football fans taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration and demand justice for Pooley.
