Ghanaian student ,24, dies in Italy ghastly accident

A Ghanaian student, Charles Yeboah Baffour, has tragically passed away after being involved in a ghastly accident in Italy.

The 24-year-old, a resident of Italy and a student at the University of Cassino, was returning to campus from work on the night of Friday, April 5, 2025, when the accident occurred.

Prince Boadu Boateng, President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in Italy, confirmed the news in an interview on Adom FM’s Kasiebo is Tasty.

He shared that Charles had completed his first degree in 2023 and was currently pursuing a Master’s degree.

Eyewitnesses reported that Charles was taken to the emergency unit of Santa Scholastica Hospital after being rushed in by ambulance.

After undergoing tests, he was discharged around 3:30 a.m. and reportedly spent the night in the hospital corridors, as he had no one to accompany him home.

The next morning, he was found in critical condition and later succumbed to internal bleeding that caused his liver to rupture.

Prince disclosed that Charles’ family, who reside in Modena, were called to identify his body.

The student community and Charles’ family are devastated by the loss and have called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. In honor of Charles, a candlelight procession has been planned.

The Ghana Mission in Italy has been informed and is providing support to the family.

Prince also appealed to President John Mahama and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to take a special interest in the matter to ensure a swift investigation and possible prosecution.
