Ghanaian nurses have no passion for the Job – Hannah Aba Donkor

UK based Ghanaian Gospel artiste, Hannah Aba Donkor, has expressed her grief on the attitudes of nurses and the selling of expired drugs on the Ghanaian markets.

Aside music, Hannah Aba is also a nurse by profession who works in UK. She began her nursing career in Ghana and furthered it at the Metropolitan University, UK. “Being a nurse is the calling from God and if you don’t have patience or love for humans, you cannot do it.

Most people end in prisons in UK because they lack these qualities especially” she stated. In her opinion, when it comes to Ghana, people go into nursing due to unemployment without having the passion for job. She explained saying the way you smile, talk, and relate to patients is also a source of medicine to them.

She also touched of Ghana’s Health systems where one is denied access to treatment because of the poor management of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and lack of beds in hospitals on like UK where these things are not common.

“Comparing Ghana to other countries we are far behind in Health” she quoted. She also assessed the country’s ambulance services, sales of fake drugs and others and termed it as disheartening.

She ended by pleading to any Government that comes into power to take the Health sector very serious and it is her prayer to own a hospital in the country as a nurse to enhance her ministry as a gospel singer.
