Asante Kotoko have been crowned champions of the 2026 Democracy Cup after defeating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on penalties at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The highly anticipated clash between two of Ghana’s biggest football clubs ended goalless after 90 minutes, forcing the winner to be decided through a penalty shootout.
Kotoko eventually prevailed 4-1 in the shootout, with goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad emerging as one of the key figures in the victory after making two crucial saves to deny Hearts of Oak.
