Ghanaian hairstylist, Chelsea-Abigail Owusu Ansah has set a new Guinness World Record for locking the most heads of hair in eight hours.

Specialising in dreadlocks, Chelsea-Abigail successfully locked 27 heads in just seven hours, 51 minutes, and six seconds, earning her a spot on the official Guinness World Records website.

Chelsea-Abigail, who is also the CEO of Yoga Locks, achieved this remarkable feat during a lock-a-thon held on March 6, 2024.

Sharing the news in a Facebook post, she expressed her excitement: “I am proud and honoured to announce that I have officially set a new Guinness World Record for the most heads of hair locked in 8 hours. Thank you, and I look forward to inspiring others to pursue their passion and strive for greatness.”

Chelsea-Abigail formally announced her achievement at an event on September 7, 2024, at the Blue Kiosk in Ashongman Estate, Accra.

With over six years of professional experience in hair-locking, she explained that her motivation for attempting the record was to challenge negative stereotypes about dreadlocks and promote acceptance of the hairstyle.
