Ghana loses CAF U-17 qualifying tournament

Ghana has been stripped off the right to host the WAFU Zone B Africa U17 Championships qualifier as earlier planned.

This emerges over government interference in the administration of the sport after the airing of the “Number 12” video.

However, Niger has been earmarked as the new hosts but this will be ratified by CAF in the coming days.

The tournament is a new format being employed by CAF to have all regional blocks duly represented in the U17 Championships.

Per the new format, only the winners of the regional tournaments would qualify for the CAF U17 finals.

Ghana will compete against seven other countries in WAFU Zone B for the sole qualification ticket to the Africa U17 Championships to be hosted by Tanzania.
