Ghana defender Alidu Seidu extends Stade Rennes contract to 2029

Defender Alidu Seidu has extended his stay at Stade Rennes, as the Ghanaian international has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The Rennes club administration appears to have placed great trust in Seidu, who has endured challenges both on and off the field, including a serious knee injury.

Since joining Rennes fourteen months ago during the winter transfer window, Seidu has emerged as a crucial member of the squad.

His versatility—playing as a right-back, left-back, or center-back—has earned him a valuable status within the team.

His no-nonsense attitude and leadership qualities have captured the hearts of fans and teammates alike, and he was further recognized by winning the Player of the Month award for September and October.

However, his progress was cut short on November 24, when he tore the cruciate ligament in his left knee while playing against Lille.

Despite this setback, Seidu remains an influential figure at the club. His infectious smile and unwavering spirit continue to light up the training facility as he works tirelessly on his rehabilitation.

“I keep working hard every day to prepare for my comeback and get back to my pre-injury level,” said Seidu, demonstrating his unrelenting optimism.

Rennes management has shown total confidence in Seidu’s ability and character.

Arnaud Pouille, Executive Chairman and CEO of Rennes, was delighted to confirm the extension:

“His trademark smile isn’t a facade; Alidu has a genuine, wonderful aura about him. On the field, too, he knows how to assume responsibility.

“He’s a leader who has made his presence felt since his arrival. We’re particularly looking forward to seeing him back on the field.”

While undergoing rehabilitation, Seidu remains as committed as ever, eager to return to the pitch and repay the club’s confidence in him.
