German Gernot Rohr sacked as Nigeria coach

German Gernot Rohr is no longer Nigeria national team coach

German Gernot Rohr is no longer Nigeria national team coach, with technical director Augustine Eguavoen installed as interim coach, the nation’s federation NFF said late Sunday.

“The relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation and Mr Rohr has come to an end. We thank him for his services to the Super Eagles and Nigeria,” NFF secretary general Mohammed Sanusi said in a statement.

Rohr was Nigeria’s longest-serving coach, having been appointed in August 2016. His contract was originally until the end of 2022.

He led them to the 2018 World Cup and to third place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria are also in the play-offs for a place at the 2022 World Cup.
