Galatasaray president hold transfer talks with Osimhen amid Chelsea interest

Nigerian international Victor Osimhen was arguably the hottest topic in the summer transfer window, which ultimately saw him end up in the Turkish Super Lig.

Osimhen, who was expected to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, saw his dream move to Stamford Bridge collapse on transfer deadline day after the two parties failed to agree on personal terms.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year has hit the ground running since completing his season-long move to Galatasaray.

The 25-year-old has so far registered four goals and two assists in five Super Lig appearances for the Turkish champions.

Osimhen’s remarkable start to life in Turkey has put him back into the spotlight heading into the next transfer window in January, with Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly interested in signing him.

However, amid the interest, Galatasaray club president Dursun Ozbek reportedly held talks with the Super Eagles striker and teammate Davinson Sanchez, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur.

According to reports, the club president urged the duo to stay at the club till the end of the season, which may see them celebrate a potential league title together.

Galatasaray, the current title holders, are currently five points clear at the top of the league ahead of Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce side.

In a recent interview, Osimhen disclosed that he will finish his one-season loan spell with the club, debunking rumours about leaving the club in January.
