From Selling Akpeteshie to Becoming a Billionaire: The Story of Nii Armah Quaye

Before rising to fame and becoming one of Ghana’s renowned businessmen, Richard Nii Armah Quaye sold local dry gin, popularly known as ‘akpeteshie,’ at Korle Gonno, a suburb of Accra.

The businessman confirmed this in an interview with Bola Ray, where he shared that he is now wealthy enough to purchase items he desires.

While listing some luxurious items he has acquired by the age of 40, Bola Ray said, “This is a boy who was selling akpeteshie in Korle Gonno to make ends meet and pay for his school fees.”

Richard Nii Armah Quaye responded with a simple “yes.”

He further said, “Ten years ago, I could buy a Rolls Royce or a private jet. When I was 30, everything that was on sale, I could have bought it, but I never did because when you have a plan that is working, you have to stick to the plan and allow it to work. When money is growing at a stage, it begins to grow abnormally… Our money can work for us.”

“When you work with your energy to make money, there is a limit to how much you can do. You are human, and in a day, you have 24 hours, and you will be tired but your money has no limit to how much it can make for you,” he added.

Recently, he acquired a Bugatti Chiron, estimated at US$4 million, as well as a private Gulfstream jet, estimated at US$25 million.

Currently, Richard Nii Armah Quaye is the founder of Bills Micro Credit and an angel investor in Pizzaman-Chickenman, Burger King, Sankofa Spices, agriculture, and other ventures.
