Freddie Blay must be investigated by Special Prosecutor – NDC MP

Aspiring Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, is being accused of using state funds to buy cars for his party.

Member of Parliament for Bodi, Samson Kwaku Ahi says he will soon haul him before the Special Prosecutor for misappropriating state funds.

His comment comes after Mr Blay bought 275 buses for his party ahead of its Delegates Congress on July 7, 2018.

The initiative, the aspiring chairman explained, is a commercial bus project his job-creation initiative.

But many have criticised the timing of the donation, describing it as being aimed at buying delegates and for that matter the chairmanship slot of his party.

In support, Mr Ahi in an interview with Adom News‘ Parliamentary correspondent said the conduct of Freddie Blay amounts to an abuse of incumbency.

He claimed, the NPP Chairman aspirant used his influence as the Board Chairman for GNPC to secure funding for the bus.

The Bodi MP could not fathom how an Acting party chairman could raise money to buy 275 buses for his party just to secure a position.

He called on President Akufo-Addo to ensure Freddie Blay is investigated by the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu if he [Nana] wants to win the fight against corruption.

If his call is not heeded, Sampson Ahi said, the Minority in Parliament will pursue the case to its logical conclusion.
