Four Suspected Gang Members Arrested in Cato Manor for Multiple Murders Across KwaZulu-Natal

Police in KwaZulu-Natal have confirmed the arrest of four suspected gang members linked to a string of violent crimes, including more than 20 murders and several attempted murders committed in the Amaoti area of Inanda.
The suspects, aged between 21 and 33, were apprehended on Saturday during a targeted operation in Cato Manor, following a tip-off and coordinated intelligence work.
“These individuals have allegedly been terrorising the Amaoti community since June 2024,” said police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda during a briefing on Monday.
The arrests were made by a multidisciplinary task team involving Crime Intelligence, Cato Manor Crime Prevention, Inanda Detectives, and the Durban Metro Police. Two firearms, ammunition, and various suspected stolen items—including laptops and mobile phones—were recovered at the scene.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Colonel Netshiunda added that investigations are ongoing, with police actively pursuing additional suspects who may be connected to the crimes.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, praised the collaborative police effort, calling the suspects “some of the most wanted individuals” responsible for sowing fear in the Inanda region.
