Four remanded over deadly shooting that claimed five lives at Ayisaw

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested and remanded four suspects in connection with a fatal shooting that killed five people at Asiyaw, near Akwane-Dobro, in the Nsawam area.

The suspects, identified as Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo; Freeheart Kweku Sedonu; Kwesi Prince; and Benjamin Adzalekor, were apprehended from their hideouts following police investigations into the April 29, 2025, incident.

The shooting arose from a violent clash between two groups allegedly disputing sand-winning operations in the area, resulting in five deaths.

In a statement, the police confirmed that the suspects appeared before the Osino District Court on May 2. Samuel Atsu Forson, Freeheart Kweku Sedonu, and Kwesi Prince were remanded into prison custody, while Benjamin Adzalekor was remanded into police custody. All four are scheduled to reappear in court on May 8, 2025.

The police reiterated their commitment to a thorough investigation and ensuring justice is served, stating, “The suspects will be taken through the due process of the law.”
