Four dead, 7 injured in Kwahu Tafo accident

At least four persons, all traders, have been confirmed dead while seven others are in critical condition in a fatal accident along the Kwahu Tafo-Nketepa Road in the Eastern Region.

Four of the injured including the driver are receiving treatment at Kwahu Tafo Clinic while the rest including a pregnant woman and a child, who are in critical conditions, have been rushed to the Atibie Hospital and St.Joseph Hospital in Koforidua.

The accident occurred Friday around 3:00pm when a faulty tipper Truck registered GM-5026-12 carrying traders from Miaso to Nketepa failed break while descending a hill and somersaulted .

The shaft reportedly detached from the vehicle.

The deceased, all male, were sitting on the farm produce being transported at the bucket of the truck.

According to the driver, the truck was faulty hence was undergoing repairs at the mechanic shop but he was pressured by the traders to intervene to convey their items to the market.
