Former President Mahama Pays Hospital Bills Of Damango Fire Victims

Former President John Dramani Mahama has presented amount of GH₵6, 000 to cover the hospital bills of the family who were burnt by fire at a notable farming community near Damongo in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region.

Presenting the money on behalf of the former President to one Mr. Abdulai who guaranteed for the payment of the hospital bills, the former Minister for food and agriculture Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru said the intervention by the former President was to alleviate the plight of the family.

“The unfortunate news reached the outfit of former President Mahama when an appeal for funds was launched to pay the hospital bills of the victims. And I was sent by the Former President to foot for the said amount of the hospital bills in order to alleviate the plight of the family. I will use the opportunity to thank Mr. Abdulai who guaranteed for the victims” Alhaji Mohammed stated.

“It’s very sad on behalf of the former president John Dramani Mahama, I would like to extend my condolences to all the bereaved families.

It will be recalled that on Wednesday 29th August, 2018, a 42-year-old farmer and his entire family who were burnt by fire at a notable farming community near Damongo in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region has died.

Musah Alhassan who was involved in the unfortunate incident together his wife Madam Sala Alhassan 30, their three children Alhassan Mohammed Alhassan 16, Alhassan Suraya 12 and Samed Suraya 8 died in the process and the children were admitted to Tamale Teaching Hospital while, the wife was referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional Capital.

According to report, the wife was discharged after months of admission in the hospital and passed on 14th December, 2018 in Damongo.

However, the hospital bills of a sum of GH₵6, 000 was still pending until the intervention of the former president.

Commiserating with children and the family of the bereaved victims after the presentation, Alhaji Mohammed Limuna Muniru described the death as a “major loss”

He also expressed appreciation to Mr. Abdulai for able to guaranteed for the payment of the hospital bills.

Family of the late victim, Madam Sala Alhassan and the children were survived thanked the former President for the kind gesture.
